I am looking to work from home. I don't have any start up capitol but I know there are jobs out there. I just dont know where and how to find them. A real company will want you to have skills (fast typing, 10 key), may want you to know excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but it is rare.
One option is to freelance and bid for data entry jobs. However, you are bidding along with many people and often other countries-so you may have to bid really low just to get a job and/or project.
Another option is to offer data entry services to businesses in your area. It can be done, I know people who have done this but it is not easy to do.

The best way to go is to start your own business!

Here are just a few of them:

Then, you sign up to AdSense and other PPC content sharers, and you make money when people click on your links.
2. Sell an actual product

Like an eBook or some other type of digital product. This way, you don't have to deal with postage or anything like that. It's like an online vending machine!
It's really easy to set up websites like these. In fact, you can buy a website on eBay for very very little time or money, and start making money within a week or two of marketing your website!

yeah most are hoax. They either take your money and redirect you to some poorly made free site where you could have joined already. I personally joined "typers wanted" I found it at http://www.squidoo.com/typingathome . That site has a lot of information and helped me learn about what I was getting into. Oh and has a list of the scam companies.

I've had a lot of experience over the past 3 years with this subject. I went through litereally 50+ different companies on the interent trying to make money while I was in college. There's sooo much crap out there and companies that promise you the world but deliver nothing but hype, it takes a while to seperate the crap from the genuine money making opportunities.
Now after sooo many disapointments I'm using a crowd called Data Entry Pro and it's now making me money (finally!) online.
Anyway, basically you sign up with them and then once your logged in you just fill in as many forms as you like in their members section and you get paid for each one. I get checks from them every 2 weeks each averaging around $250-$350. You could make more but I just use the site as an extra income stream aswell as my full time job so I only work on it for around an hour each night.

Most of the work from home opportunities that are legitimate offers are not an hourly pay type job. They are business opportunities that help you in starting your own business from your home.
What you should do first is to decide if you are simply looking for an hourly rate type job or if you are looking for more of an opportunity for additional income such as what you would make in your own business being your own boss from home. Many say a JOB stands for Just Over Broker and I have found that to be true as well. I never got anywhere working for others.
Small home businesses have some small costs involved, less then $100 to start is reasonable and I would stay away from those wanting $300, $500 even some asking for $1000. Use this to your advantage in 1 of 2 ways:
1.) Join with as many temp agencies as you can and go company shopping. (note, this is much different than job shopping for you are merely using your current experience as a means for getting your foot in the door to get a feel for the corporate culture and opportunities within the company). If you find a company that you like, see what kinds of jobs are available within that company on a permanent basis within your current area of expertise.
When interviewing for the position, ask specifically about what kinds of additional training %26amp; advancement opportunities are available for hard working employees looking to grow within the company? This is an attitude all-too lacking among 99% of all job applicants. Do your assigned job duties with utmost professionalism and specifically ask to take on projects outside of your comfort zone and more in the area you wish to go.
Using this method, my oldest sister worked her way up from being a temp to becoming Vice President of a large midwestern bank.
2.) Hone in on the company(ies) you would like to work for and network like crazy. Do whatever you can to find names %26amp; telephone #s of people inside that company to talk to. Do your homework and be prepared with every bit of info you can so that when you are asked why you want to work for XYZ company you can tell them exactly how your current (presumabley administrative at this point) skills would be of benefit to THEM.
This is very important, never approach a company solely from the stance of what they can do for you. You must give to get. Even when you are asking about training, do it from the standpoint that you want to better yourself to add more value for THEM as well as yourself.
If you have found a dream company to work for (great culture, atmosphere, opportunity for training %26amp; advancement) but are still having difficulty getting in, don't be discouraged. It costs a lot of money to bring someone on, train them, only to face the good possibility that they'll be gone in 12 months anyway.
Your Hail Mary here is to be willing to work for free for a trial period so that you can prove yourself to be an asset. Go in with confidence that you can be the best admin assistant ever and are willing to back it up by working as an unpaid intern for X days/weeks and you'll knock the socks off of some hiring managers. And once you're in, use that same go-gettem spirit to educate yourself in your desired field of interest. (but keep in mind all of this study will be extra-curricular, don't expect them to pay for you to study on their time %26amp; dime).
Some may offer some tuition assistance, espeically if what you plan to study is related to their company, but even if they do not, at least you will be in a great company with much better prospects for growth and a feeling of reassurance that'll come from knowing that you are working your plan and in time will have only one direction to move!

For me it was the right decision: once I was in the Air Force, I was able to go to grad school, get a bunch of training, see a lot of the world, and meet some great people. And it broke the vicious cycle of which you speak. It's not for everyone, and these days it's a tougher business than when I joined back in the Reagan administration. But it can be a way out...

Reply:move to Alberta Canada, their are way way more jobs then people and the wages are super high. plus no sales tax, and very low income tax. you could work in the oil fields for 50+ per hour, or weld in a city for 40 per hour, or deliver appliances for 1500 a week, drive for a courier service in Edmonton for 1500-2500 a week. employers here are desperate for workers and you can pretty much name your price take it or leave it, employers also kiss your butt so you wont leave, this has been my experience
Reply:Don't listen to people who say you need a college degree to do something else, that's only true if you want to move up or seek special skill work. What is always true however, is that you will most likely have to seriously apply yourself to a career change if you really want to do something different. You might have to take trainings or courses to be fit for something else, but with a little planning and some dedication, other jobs can open up for you.
You could apply for nursing school or something like that, which is sorta like working and learning at the same time from what I gathered. Many other jobs only require a short course or will let you work and grow into your job while you learn.
The first step to all that however is just taking a conscious step towards changing your career. Once you have an idea of what you'd like to do (can be several things) check out what you'd need for these jobs (entry level) at things like the employment office or even temp agencies. They can tell you more than I can about what you'd need.

What is always true however, is that you will most likely have to seriously apply yourself to a career change if you really want to do something different. You might have to take trainings or courses to be fit for something else, but with a little planning and some dedication, other jobs can open up for you.
You could apply for nursing school or something like that, which is sorta like working and learning at the same time from what I gathered. Many other jobs only require a short course or will let you work and grow into your job while you learn.
The first step to all that however is just taking a conscious step towards changing your career. Once you have an idea of what you'd like to do (can be several things) check out what you'd need for these jobs (entry level) at things like the employment office or even temp agencies. They can tell you more than I can about what you'd need.

The mere fact that you're asking the question implies a willingness to change %26amp; grow which is a big factor you have in your favor already. Employers love that kind of initiative. But do they know you have it?
Are you a people person? Then you might look into sales. Companies are always looking for smart, motivated, and outgoing people to hire and train as salespeople. The earning potential is unlimited, but the learning curve is steep and most fail because they are not prepared to deal with the inevitable %26amp; constant rejection as well as the long hours that it takes to become established.
That's probably 1 route you could go with little to no experience/education. But if sales doesn't intrigue you then you need to find out what does. What are you passionaste about in life? Helping others, dealing with numbers, working with your hands, writing, etc?

For a number of years I worked in the recruiting business and I know firsthand that companies are constatnly looking for good admin help.
Use this to your advantage in 1 of 2 ways:
1.) Join with as many temp agencies as you can and go company shopping. (note, this is much different than job shopping for you are merely using your current experience as a means for getting your foot in the door to get a feel for the corporate culture and opportunities within the company). If you find a company that you like, see what kinds of jobs are available within that company on a permanent basis within your current area of expertise.
When interviewing for the position, ask specifically about what kinds of additional training %26amp; advancement opportunities are available for hard working employees looking to grow within the company? This is an attitude all-too lacking among 99% of all job applicants. Do your assigned job duties with utmost professionalism and specifically ask to take on projects outside of your comfort zone and more in the area you wish to go.
Using this method, my oldest sister worked her way up from being a temp to becoming Vice President of a large midwestern bank.
2.) Hone in on the company(ies) you would like to work for and network like crazy. Do whatever you can to find names %26amp; telephone #s of people inside that company to talk to. Do your homework and be prepared with every bit of info you can so that when you are asked why you want to work for XYZ company you can tell them exactly how your current (presumabley administrative at this point) skills would be of benefit to THEM.
This is very important, never approach a company solely from the stance of what they can do for you. You must give to get. Even when you are asking about training, do it from the standpoint that you want to better yourself to add more value for THEM as well as yourself.
If you have found a dream company to work for (great culture, atmosphere, opportunity for training %26amp; advancement) but are still having difficulty getting in, don't be discouraged. It costs a lot of money to bring someone on, train them, only to face the good possibility that they'll be gone in 12 months anyway.
Your Hail Mary here is to be willing to work for free for a trial period so that you can prove yourself to be an asset. Go in with confidence that you can be the best admin assistant ever and are willing to back it up by working as an unpaid intern for X days/weeks and you'll knock the socks off of some hiring managers. And once you're in, use that same go-gettem spirit to educate yourself in your desired field of interest. (but keep in mind all of this study will be extra-curricular, don't expect them to pay for you to study on their time %26amp; dime).
Some may offer some tuition assistance, espeically if what you plan to study is related to their company, but even if they do not, at least you will be in a great company with much better prospects for growth and a feeling of reassurance that'll come from knowing that you are working your plan and in time will have only one direction to move!

I did manage to get a refund but I was one of the lucky ones! If you are looking for an online "job" in which you are an employee, you should never have to pay them to work! The only time you should ever invest money into a business is if you are starting your own.

I tried to dispute it and I got turned down because they sent me the email with info! I found a great way to make money and i started a group about it -- if u are interested! I have a small business helping people with health, and also to make extra income from home.
You do need to be careful - just make sure you fully investigate the company you look into joining. Make usre there is a money back guarantee and that the company is a large organisation with proof, such as being listed on the stock exchange or sposoring events, etc.
I would also speak with the person you communicte with either in person or over the phone, before committing to anything.

I have a small business helping people with health, and also to make extra income from home.
You do need to be careful - just make sure you fully investigate the company you look into joining. Make usre there is a money back guarantee and that the company is a large organisation with proof, such as being listed on the stock exchange or sposoring events, etc.
I would also speak with the person you communicte with either in person or over the phone, before committing to anything.

You could setup a blog or website, this is completely free. Once you have added some good content, you can start to earn money from advertising. I know you wont make a huge income from this, but it would get you started working from home.
Pick a topic which you are very interested in, and write a piece on that everyday.

i would offer custom quotes depending on what the job is as each clerical job is unique, but i think a reasonable rate would be somewhere around $20 an hour. I would also have a fee if you picked up the materials or they brought them to you, and an extra fee if they needed the preparation expedited. I would also have a 'per page' fee, only you can determine that. how long would it take you to type a page? dont sell yourself short. best of luck to you.

The work from home jobs that aren't scams actually require work on your part - and if you're in need of money soon then you're likely to be sorely disappointed in any of those as well. Most of the legit opportunities out there take time to build - so if someone makes an outrageous claim of income it probably isn't true ( and those that are true sure didn't make that kind of money when they first began ).

I have other ideas that may help - one of them is an online opportunity but another is one that will require a little effort to market yourself - try some data entry for local businesses, many of them don't have the time to do it in-house and will gladly pay someone else to do it. Professionals are a good place to start, lawyers, doctors, chiropractors, etc - they need their "in-house" folks doing other things rather than busy work.

The benefit to me was, I could charge more for my services, and being self-employed at home in this manner provided me with a lot of tax breaks. But use your imagination, and don't be afraid to try it. I got a lot of refusals, but once I had one job, more started to come in. I eventually sold my business to a neighbor woman with 3 children who lost her job when her husband ran off. She now has a staff of 15 working for her. Best of luck to you.
