i don't want to do internet jobs like typing, data entry, writing etc. I am well qualified teacher but have to look after my family as my husband has a full time job. want to earn some money .
Home based jobs or small business 4 a house wife. not interested in online Internet jobs like data entry etc.?
My wife is a house wife with a degree in elementary education. About 7 months ago we started looking for something extra that we could do to make some extra money, but it couldn't be too time consuming or too expensive. Subsequently, we bought our own YTB travel business and now work it together.

Reply:You will hear of a lot of people who claim to have found this work and are making a fortune. The only way they really make money is by getting others to pay them to find work - not by actual work.

There are data entry jobs available, but they are generally only available very locally. The pace of business today prohibits the type of data entry you remember from years back. However, there are always businesses which need to take analog data (maybe handwritten job applications, for example) and turn them into computer entries. Even with optical character recognition, there is still a need to data enter or verify what the system read. Occasionally, this work can be done from home once you've proven yourself with the employer.
Look for evening shifts for data entry (often found thru temp agencies) and once you've built a reputation, see if their servers can be accessed remotely so you could work from home. I think more and more of these jobs will be done at home, but they will extremely short time-lines, what comes in today needs to be in the system tonight, for example, with none of the flexibility you remember.

Reply:I have researched so many home based online businesses it's crazy how many are out there! Unfortunately most of them are scams! The bad thing about most home businesses is that you have to sell something, and they usually require you to place a big product order, or there's start up costs. I'm a Landscape Architect and I just want to make some extra money, and I've found this amazing company.

The best part of this company is you don't have to sell products, there is no investment, and the customer retention and reorder rate is 95%! It's just a really great company that's been around for over 20 years, and it doesn't jerk people around or rip them off! As you can tell I'm really excited about it, and I think it's a great business opportunity. Be careful of all the scams out there!
Reply:There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills (fast typing, 10 key), may want you to know excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but it is rare.
One option is to freelance and bid for data entry jobs. However, you are bidding along with many people and often other countries-so you may have to bid really low just to get a job and/or project.
Another option is to offer data entry services to businesses in your area. It can be done, I know people who have done this but it is not easy to do.

Have you thought about direct sales at all? There are plenty of direct sales companies nowadays. Many of them offer low cost start up kits. What kinds of things are you interested in?
I am an independent consultant for a wickless candle company. We offer safer alternatives to traditional candles. Our highly scented wax bars are warmed in a warmer that uses a 25 watt light bulb. Reply:start a coaching centre for exams since you are qualified teacher. creche or daycare with one helper. offer after-school care (3 to 4 hours daily) for children whose parents are working full time. tuition for students, take them in groups, 2 hour sessions, 9am - 11 am and then 4pm to 6pm.
Reply:You could bake and sell cookies. There's a woman who does that at my veterinarian's office. She brings in a new batch of these huge cookies, and the receptionists sell them for her for 1-2 dollars each.
